entry level maths
Entry Level Maths Certificates are nationally recognised qualifications that give pupils the opportunity to achieve a certified award. Assessments are designed to inspire and motivate pupils, providing appropriate stretch and challenge, whilst ensuring that the assessment and texts are accessible.
Completion of the Entry Level Maths course leads to awards at Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3 levels. Pupils create a portfolio of work for assessment and moderation in eight components:
1 Properties of number
2 The four operations
3 Ratio
4 Money
5 Calendar and time
6 Measures
7 Geometry
8 Statistics
To achieve their Entry level Certification, pupils produce a portfolio of evidence containing the externally-set assignments and internally assessed classwork for each component.
• Evidence for a minimum of four components in response to an externally-set assignment.
• Evidence for a maximum of four components should be from internally assessed class work.

Entry Level English Certificates are nationally recognised qualifications that give students the opportunity to achieve a certified award. Assessments are designed to inspire and motivate pupils, providing appropriate stretch and challenge, whilst ensuring that the assessment and texts are accessible.
The course enables pupils to develop the skills they need to read and understand a range of texts as well as to write clearly, coherently and accurately using a range of vocabulary and sentence structures. It offers non-exam assessment. which supports an engaging and supportive learning and assessment experience. Completion of the Entry Level course leads to awards at Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3 levels.
The specification offers two components in both steps, which each assess reading and writing. Spoken language is included in component 1 and contributes to the overall mark. Each component thematically links reading and writing and supports high-quality provision and engaging teaching and learning.
• Component 1 - Literacy Topics- students complete a number of tasks based around a theme.
• Component 2 - Creative Reading and Writing- students will be asked to respond to excerpts from literary and literary non-fiction texts and write creatively.
Components also align with GCSE skills, enabling pupils to be further supported in their preparation for GCSE assessment.
